I had a vivid dream last night wherein my parents told me Mum's pregnant. Even in my dream I questioned how this could be, bearing in mind she's sixty in the autumn and had a hysterectomy ten years ago (Mum told me,'They sometimes don't work'...and I thought, 'That's vasectomies, surely?!').

Having consulted Dad in waking hours after finding the dream difficult to shrug off, I am assured, 'She's absolutely, definitely, most certainly, conclusively, positively, categorically NOT pregnant!'. Well, phew...

How lovely...
...a painter halfway up a ladder at the back of my office is whistling 'My Sweet Lord'. Tunefully, too.

'A force from above, cleaning my soul...':
'If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears...

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.'

Passing Jaeger on my lunchbreak a black, belted mac covered in white polka dots made me catch my breath (yes, I'm that shallow...). 'Not your typical Jaeger,' I thought. It turns out they've hired Bella Freud to add a bit of 'fun and frippery'. Now I long to shimmy round the South Lanes in that mac and kitten heels, swinging a Kelly Bag on the way to my date with Cary Grant...

I'm reassured to see that even Dilbert is on mood-altering drugs. But I worry that it's not genuine reassurance...

Nota Bene: One small compliment from a handsome man can go a loooong way.

'You've got to tolerate all those people that you hate
I'm not in love with you, but I won't hold that against you.'

Enjoying the Super Furries Animals' Juxtaposed With U on my PC headphones, I decided to revisit the fantastic Monsterism site. Boy, do prolific artistic geniuses like that Pete Fowler ever piss me off... ;)
