Solange Azagury Partridge's beautiful jewellery is just my cup of tea (we'll gloss over it being completely out of my price range). None of your minimalist rubbish - no single diamond floating on a delicate chain - big sparkly stones used with wit and pizazz, yet never looking trashy. The Rosecut ring from her Summer 2003 collection is stunning - and I've long admired (OK, yearned for...) the 'Seven Days of the Week' ring - a tiny calendar dial surrounded with square-cut rubies. Rubies represent a 'virtuous woman', you know... ;)

Today I bought a tiny can of Elnett. Partly because I hardly ever use hairspray so I don't mind buying the good stuff, but mainly so I could have that golden can, with the lady with the long neck and the huge hair, just like the can which sat on my Nanna's dressing table next to the pot of Cyclax moisturiser and her '4711' perfume.

Step Into My Office, Baby
Ohhhh... the most frustrating, heartrending moment on The Office last night... Dawn's selling kisses for a £1 in aid of Comic Relief. Tim puts in his quid but shies away from claiming his kiss. Dawn gently urges him on, taking his lapels and leaning towards him across the reception desk. The kiss lasts a full two seconds before they break off, unable to make eye contact and muttering about having work to get on with... Noooooooooo!!!!!

'Wow, that top is very Simultane.'
Best compliment in ages from a colleague at last night's Christmas outing. Particularly as the top in question used to be a dress, and I'd just cut the skirt off and hadn't had time to hem it - reasoning (shamefully) that it was non-fray fabric and an unfinished edge wouldn't show in candlelight anyhow. And the dress was a hand-me-down from a friend, and she bought it secondhand in the first place. Am a very stylish girl!... ;)

You turn your back for five minutes...
The Gorgeous Blonde informs me that on Saturday, whilst enjoying a birthday weekend with our folks, I missed, '...a 6 foot rabbit outside the Komedia dancing to 'A Message to you Rudy' in a storm of fake snow...'. Darn it!

Auntie P and I went to see Neal Cleary, Amy Allison and Amy Rigby. This was chiefly to see Amy Allison, as I have some of her stuff and she and Amy Rigby are mates of Laura Cantrell. We were squeezed into the upstairs room at the Prince Albert, and lovely it was too - seated at candlelit tables. I was highly chuffed to spot Laura's mandolin player Jon Graboff (or 'David Baddiel' as we called him before we'd learned his name) on guitar for Ms Rigby. Her set was fantastic - lively tunes with spiky lyrics which made us laugh out loud: 'I, your loving [blank], take you [insert name here] because frankly I'm too tired to look around anymore...' Didn't enjoy Amy Allison's set as much - she didn't play any of my favourites and there were several too many 'he done me wrong and now life stinks' songs. That said, we chatted with her after the show and she admitted she's sick of playing The Whisky Makes You Sweeter - after Laura's cover made it so popular. It also turns out that she and P had spent time living in the same part of Sheffield after leaving their motherlands for Englishmen. We said our thankyous to Jon too, who claimed to recognise us... pshaw! No, no, he insisted - I don't remember names but I really do recognise your faces from Laura's gigs. Oh dear. Tonight Matthew I'm going to be... a stalker.
